Journalists of top gaming publications have published a preview of DOOM: The Dark Ages. Thanks to this gamers can see a huge amount of gameplay footage, learn new details and make their own opinion about the shooter.

Here's What We Know

Journalists confirmed that the dynamics of the new game was much lower than in the previous two parts, and the Executioner of Doom (Doom Slayer) became less mobile, no longer jumping on the bars and climbing vertical walls. The gameplay has moved to the horizontal plane, as it was in the very first parts of DOOM, and this is more likely to please fans of the series.

The protagonist has an impressive, brutal and diverse arsenal of weapons, fighting demons in melee and ranged combat, instead of the long animations of reaching from DOOM Eternal in The Dark Ages added a crushing blow with a shield, chain and steel glove, and many monsters are covered with thick armour, which must be knocked down.

Locations have become much more spacious, but due to the abandonment of vertical gameplay most of the time the player will run from point A to point B, along with destroying demons. Jumping and overcoming obstacles remained, but in a much smaller volume: whether it is good or bad depends on the opinion of a particular gamer about DOOM Eternal.

To summarise: journalists still have questions about some of the developers' decisions, but they are sure that DOOM: The Dark Ages will be a great game and will please the loyal fans of the series.

When We Can Expect It

DOOM: The Dark Ages will release on 15 May on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and will be available immediately on Game Pass.
