Garmin has started rolling out a new update to many of its older smartwatches, including the Fenix 6 and Fenix 6 Pro series.

Here's What We Know

This is the first stable update for these models in over a year since System Software 27.00 was released in May 2024. However, the new update, System Software 28.02, does not bring any new features, focusing only on bug fixes.

It is worth noting that although the update also affects the Enduro, Marq and Tactix Delta smartwatches, Garmin has not yet sent out notifications to all smartwatches that System Software 28.02 is ready. The update is available for download worldwide, but it may take some time to roll out.

The main changes in the new version include:

  • Adding a legal warning to the storm warning feature.
  • Fixing a bug in the route settings for MARQ Aviator.
  • Fix for an issue with the display of popular routes when plotting routes on Pro devices.
  • Fix for a constant signal when notifying about an altitude change.
  • Fixed an issue with notification delay.
  • Fix for a bug that could cause the device to switch off when downloading some courses.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements, including CIQ.

While the update doesn't bring any new features, it promises to improve device stability, which is important for users who rely on their Garmin smartwatches for training and everyday use.
