Hop to go: Leapmotor has introduced a charging mat for electric cars
Leapmotor has unveiled an innovative Leap Mat charger that supposedly allows users to recharge their electric car battery anytime, anywhere. According to the manufacturer, this advanced device converts physical movement into electrical energy for convenient and cost-effective charging.
Here's What We Know
"Available to order from early April, the Leap Mat features a unique kinetic energy conversion system. When users place the mat on the ground and jump or run in place, the device generates electricity, which is then fed into the car battery via an integrated CCS2 standard cable and connector.
The Leap Mat folds and unfolds in seconds and fits in the boot of the car, allowing owners to instantly access electricity anywhere off the grid. Made from a durable and waterproof material, the Leap Mat is available in several colours to perfectly complement the design of the Leapmotor vehicle.
One of the features of this cutting-edge accessory is that it generates electricity that costs nothing and comes from a fully renewable energy source. In addition, owners can also enjoy the health benefits of exercising on the Leap Mat - the longer they exercise, the more kilometres they add to their driving range.
The company also said it is working on a roof-mounted wind turbine, power-generating paint, and mats for rear-seat passengers that are also power-generating treadmills.
It's worth noting that the press release was published on the official website of Stellantis, which owns a controlling stake in Leapmotor. However, there is a hint at the end that the whole thing is nothing more than an April Fool's joke.
