Capcom is in no hurry to reveal details of Onimusha: Way of the Sword - the first new game in the series for almost twenty years. However, the developers are gradually opening the veil of secrecy and interesting information appears in the network.

Here's What We Know

Producer Akihito Kadowaki and head of development Satoru Nihei talked to journalists of the Japanese edition of Famitsu and revealed important details of Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

They said that the game will not have an open world, as it is created with maximum orientation on the old parts of the series, including Onimusha: Warlords. Players will be offered to defend against demons in spacious semi-open locations, switching between them as the story progresses.

Despite the lack of an open world, Way of the Sword will be the longest part of Onimusha - the main story alone will take over 20 hours to complete, and with the additional activities, it will take much longer.

Onimusha games are based on real historical events and personalities, which are organically integrated into the dark fantasy universe, and the story of Way of the Sword will not be an exception.

Capcom has previously stated that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will offer a new take on the franchise and bring it closer to modern standards, and the combat system will be spectacular and complex, but not overly complex.

When We Can Expect It

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected to release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
