Meta is developing Hypernova - innovative AR glasses that will be the next step in the development of augmented reality technology.

Here's What We Know

Bloomberg reports that Hypernova will be a significantly improved version of the current Meta Ray-Ban glasses and moreover, the company expects that the new gadget will become an alternative to smartphones.

The main feature of the glasses will be the presence of a small display on the right side of the right lens, which will display notifications, maps, some applications, messages and other useful information that will be, literally, in front of your eyes.

Users will be able to control the Hypernova interface with gestures, but Meta is also developing a special wristband that can be used to give more precise commands, but the additional gadget will be available only by 2027, at the same time as the next model of Hypernova 2 glasses, which is also in development.

A modified version of Android is used as the operating system, but a separate app shop is not yet planned.

Meta will provide users with extensive photo and video interaction with Hypernova. Of course, the company will utilise all available AI features and will equip the glasses with an inbuilt microphone, camera and sensitive sensors to make use of them.

Hypernova's AR glasses are expected to be released by the end of 2025 and are expected to cost between $1000 and $1400.
