Qualcomm has unveiled a powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip designed for premium mobile devices that are not flagship.

Here's What We Know

The new chipset from Qualcomm will offer impressive performance at a moderate price - it is 31% more powerful than its predecessor Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, and graphics performance has been increased by 49%. Power efficiency has been improved by 39 per cent.

The chip is made on 4nm technology and gets eight cores:

• 1×Cortex X4 at 3.2GHz
• 3×Cortex A720 at 3.0 GHz
• 2×Cortex A720 at 2.8 GHz
• 2×Cortex A720 at 2.0 GHz

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 main features:

• The chip utilises Adreno 825 GPU, which supports ray tracing and Snapdragon Elite Gaming technologies;
• NPU provides a 44% performance boost for AI-related tasks;
• supports cameras up to 320MP, 8K HDR video recording at 60 FPS, and 4K displays at 60Hz;
• supports Snapdragon X75 5G modem, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0;
• the chip is compatible with LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0.
