System Era Softworks, the studio known for the Astroneer game, has announced its new project - Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions. The game promises to be a "multiplayer journey of discovery" in deep space and is due to be released in 2026.

Here's What We Know

The game is centred on the ESS Starseeker space station, which is constantly evolving. Players will be able to plan expeditions, improve equipment, and interact with other researchers. The team must work together to complete tasks on different planets, using advanced technologies and encountering various forms of life. Although the game is set in the Astroneer universe, it is an independent project and is not a direct sequel.

According to the studio's co-founder and creative director Adam Bromell, Starseeker reflects the studio's commitment to giving players freedom of action and fostering a shared experience. In the coming months, the team plans to hold live streams, publish video blogs from behind the scenes, organise limited beta testing and present the debut gameplay trailer.

Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions is scheduled for release in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Despite the new project, the developers assure that the original Astroneer game will continue to receive updates and new content in the future.
