A prototype of the Honda 0 all-electric SUV made its public debut driven by Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen at the Red Bull Showrun x Powered by Honda event in Tokyo, Japan.

Here's What We Know

A demonstration run of the camouflaged Honda 0 SUV prototype took place last weekend ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka circuit to celebrate six years of Honda and Red Bull Racing's partnership. It was also attended by Formula One stars Yuki Tsunoda of Red Bull Racing, as well as Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls.

The Honda 0 SUV will be part of the all-new Honda 0 series of electric cars. The prototype was first shown at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, with a concept version called the Space-Hub a year earlier. Production of the production version is due to start in 2026 at the Honda EV Hub plant in Ohio, US.

The road-going version of the model features new headlights with pixelated accents and hidden door handles. The manufacturer also promises a "spacious cabin with outstanding visibility", advanced driver assistance systems and a user interface based on the new ASIMO OS.

Honda hasn't revealed many details, but has previously said that the 0 Series cars will use a steering-by-wire system where there is no physical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. Such designs are slowly becoming the norm in the auto industry, they are more compact by doing away with traditional steering columns, which means more safety and interior customisation options.

The Honda 0 SUV will be followed into production by the 0 Saloon electric passenger car. It is scheduled to be introduced in North America in late 2026. The 0 Saloon shares many similarities with the SUV, but has a more wedge-shaped profile.
