Brazil may buy decommissioned Albion amphibious assault ships from Britain
The Brazilian Navy has announced the acquisition of two Albion multipurpose landing docks from the UK. The agreement was signed during the LAAD Defence Security 2025 defence exhibition in Rio de Janeiro with the participation of representatives of both ministries of defence.
Here's What We Know
The Brazilian Navy noted that the new ships will significantly strengthen the naval component of the armed forces, expanding the fleet's capabilities in military, humanitarian and rescue operations. This step will also allow the country to better respond to emergencies.

The acquisition coincided with the 200th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom, which added political weight to the deal. However, the parties have only signed a letter of intent, so the final value of the contract has not yet been announced.
The ships in question are HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark, which were previously decommissioned from the British fleet due to technical problems and crew shortages. Both are currently in reserve, and in the absence of buyers, they were planned to be scrapped.
