Cute platformer Astro Bot has unexpectedly become the highest rated game of 2024 for most gamers. Sony and studio Team ASOBI managed to successfully develop the concept of a small demo game Astro's Playroom, which is pre-installed on all PlayStation 5 consoles, and create a new franchise.

It seems that the next stage of the series development will be a film adaptation of the adventures of the cheerful robot Astro and his numerous friends.

Here's What We Know

Variety journalists talked to the creators of game adaptations and, in particular, with the head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash. In the conversation, he revealed that his company is considering making a film or TV series based on Astro Bot.

Qizilbash said that when a game attracts so much attention, receives the highest ratings and enjoys steady popularity, it is the best time to translate it into other forms of media to increase the audience even more.

For now, a film adaptation of Astro Bot is still in the idea stage, but given how aggressively Sony is adapting its franchises, there's little doubt that we'll be hearing about a tentative "Astro Bot at the Movies" production start in the foreseeable future.

As a reminder, the second season of HBO's The Last of Us will premiere soon, Amazon is tackling the God of War series, and feature-length films are in the pipeline for Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima.
