UAE shows modernised BMP-3 with Slovak combat module
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence has presented a variant of the BMP-3 modernisation with the DVK-30 combat module. The new armament solves one of the main problems of the old version - the placement of the crew next to 100-mm shells.
Here's What We Know
In the released video from the UAE Defence Minister's visit to the Reserve Forces Command, the BMP-3 can be seen equipped with the new Slovakian-made DVK-30 turret with a 30mm cannon. This significantly improves crew safety and brings the vehicle closer to modern combat equipment requirements.
According to Janes publication, it is reported that the footage was shot near the headquarters, which probably belongs to the 5th Independent Motorised Infantry Brigade, so the upgraded BMPs could be back in service with the UAE Army.

The country received up to 700 BMP-3s from Russia in the 1990s, but most of them were later withdrawn to the reserve, replaced by the Rabdan 8×8 wheeled BMPs. Modernisation with the DVK-30 could give a second life to hundreds of these vehicles, including some 600 that may have survived.
