Square Enix has dashed fans' hopes: no new game will be announced at the NieR series 15th anniversary stream

On 19 April, Square Enix will host a stream to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the NieR series.
The broadcast will feature NieR series creator Yoko Taro, series producer Yosuke Saito, composer Keiichi Okabe, and NieR: Automata game designer Takahisa Taura.
Logically, gamers who are eagerly awaiting the sequel to NieR: Automata were hoping that a new instalment of the franchise would be announced at the upcoming show.
But unfortunately, they're in for (yet again) disappointment.
Here's What We Know
Square Enix published a reminder about the upcoming show at X, but noted that you shouldn't expect an announcement of a new game at the show - the company isn't planning anything like that.
The broadcast will be limited to interviews with the developers, discussion of the NieR franchise's path, display of themed gadgets and a new collection of merchandise, and a mini-concert.

The NieR 15th Anniversary broadcast will begin on 19 April at 11:00 (CEST) and will be available on YouTube.
Flashback
Rumours about the development of a new NieR instalment have been circulating for a few years now. Yoko Taro and producer Yasuke Saito have repeatedly hinted that they are working on a sequel to the series.
Recall that the sales of action game NieR: Automata exceeded 9 million copies and continue to grow.
