The Ukrainian Defence Forces have demonstrated the use of new German HF-1 artificial intelligence attack drones for the first time in Sumy region.

Here's What We Know

The German publication BILD published a video of the HF-1 drones being operated by a unit of the Special Operations Forces. As of early April, more than 1,000 of these drones are to be delivered to Ukraine. It is worth explaining that these UAVs are equipped with artificial intelligence that can detect and target targets independently, but the Ukrainian military is still using only a homing system to ensure the accuracy of the strike.

The drone can stay in the air for about an hour and has a flight range of up to 100 km, but the military prefers a range of 45-50 km. Drones are actively used to destroy enemy air defence, logistics and armoured vehicles. In addition, the drones are made of plywood, which helps to avoid detection by radar due to the material's radio transparency.

It should be noted that another 4,000 of these drones are to be delivered this year, along with 6,000 other HX-2 drones, also equipped with artificial intelligence.
