British Tank Museum hosts exhibition about the war in Ukraine
The Tank Museum in Dorset, UK, has opened a new exhibition dedicated to the Russian-Ukrainian war. In particular, the event is dedicated to "armoured warfare in the modern world" and tells about Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the peculiarities of the fighting and the impact of the war on the civilian population.
Here's What We Know
The centrepiece of the exhibition is the Soviet T-72 tank, one of the most recognisable symbols of armoured vehicles, which is now actively used by both sides of the conflict. Next to it is a German Marder infantry fighting vehicle, which the Ukrainian military received as part of military aid.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by retired General and Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, who shared his opinion on the changing nature of modern warfare. According to him, traditional armoured vehicles, such as tanks, are no longer a guarantee of victory in a conflict where drones, precision weapons and digital intelligence play a decisive role.
The story of the T-72 on display is also symbolic. In 2024, British engineers used Soviet tanks from museum exhibitions to reverse engineer the tracks. These tracks are subsequently manufactured for the needs of the Ukrainian army. The project is being implemented in cooperation with William Cook Defence Ltd.
