The Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking (Experimental) model is back in the Gemini app after disappearing from the Android and iOS mobile versions a few days ago.

Here's What We Know

The disappearance of the model came as a surprise to users, although the web version of the app remained unchanged.

This situation prompted many to speculate that Google might stop supporting the model, but the return of Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking suggests that it was most likely a temporary technical issue or maintenance.

The model is back up and running without any issues, and Google probably has no plans to disable it.

Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking (Experimental) is one of three models available for free users of the app, each of which is optimised for different tasks. The name "Flash Thinking" may seem contradictory, as the model mostly uses thinking methods that usually require time to process the answer.

However, in this case, the emphasis is on speed, which allows you to get answers faster, even if they are not as powerful.

Google recently announced that it is rolling out the Gemini 2.5 Pro experimental model to all users of the free version of Gemini. Initially, Gemini 2.5 Pro was only available for Gemini Advanced subscribers, which costs $19.99 per month in the US via Google One AI Premium. On Saturday, 29 March, Google announced that it decided to make Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) available to all users.
