Nintendo has announced that the introductory game Welcome Tour for the new Switch 2 console will not be free but will cost $10. Nintendo of America Vice President of Products and User Experience Bill Trinen explained that this price reflects the "significant amount of care and work" that went into the development of the game.

Here's What We Know

The Welcome Tour was introduced during the recent Switch 2 announcement and is described as an "interactive exhibition" that provides "a wealth of information about the console" through "technical demonstrations, mini-games and other interactive elements".

Unlike the free-to-play Astro's Playroom game for PlayStation 5, the Welcome Tour will not be included with the console.

Trinen emphasised that Welcome Tour is "quite a powerful piece of software" with a lot of detail that will be useful for those interested in the system's technical specifications. He noted that $9.99 is "not an excessive price" for such a product.
