Framework, known for its modular laptops, has announced a temporary suspension of sales of some models in the US.

Here's What We Know

This decision is due to the introduction of new global tariffs that started last week. Framework is removing the 13-inch versions of its laptops with Ultra 5 125H and Ryzen 5 7640U processors from the site.

At the time of publication, the model with the Intel Ultra 5 chip is no longer available, while the version with the Ryzen 5 7640U remains on sale for now. Also, the more expensive models with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U chips and versions with Intel Ultra 7 155H and Ultra 7 165H are still available. There are small discounts on all models.

Initially, laptop prices were calculated with a zero tariff on goods from Taiwan, but the new 10 per cent tariff makes selling the products unprofitable. Framework noted that other consumer goods manufacturers have made the same calculations and taken the same actions, although most are keeping quiet about it.

Other industries have already been affected by the new tariffs, with Jaguar Land Rover suspending shipments in the US and Nintendo delaying pre-orders for its Switch 2 console, although the launch date has remained unchanged.
