Lancia only introduced the new Ypsilon last year, but is already updating its five-door hatchback.

Here's What We Know

In the all-electric Ypsilon, the 54kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery has distinguished itself with "improved chemistry" and the powertrain is more efficient. The company didn't reveal details, but the electric car now has a WLTP range of up to 425 kilometres. This is 22 kilometres or 6 per cent more than before.

At the same time, the hybrid version of the Ypsilon has received a "marketing boost". Lancia claims that the total system power is now 81 kW (110 hp) instead of the previous 74 kW (100 hp).

However, there is a nuance here - there is actually no technical change. The company explains that this is simply new wording "ahead of Euro 7 requirements", which from November 2027 will oblige the total power of hybrid systems, not just the internal combustion engine.

This may be disappointing, but Lancia said the updated information gives customers "more clarity and greater perceived value". Speaking of the latter, prices remain unchanged.
