Now, director Jared Hess has announced that a sequel is already in the works. Hess expressed his excitement at the opportunity to return to the world of Minecraft and continue the story they had just begun to reveal in the first film.

In an interview with Deadline, Hess emphasised that the world of Minecraft is extremely wide and offers many opportunities for further story development. He noted that in the first film, they were not able to fully reveal all the ideas they had, so the sequel will be a great chance to return to this world and continue the adventure.
One of the key moments of the upcoming film will be the introduction of Alex, one of the nine standard skins in Minecraft. Alex appears in the post-credits scene of the first film, although her face is not shown. Hess has confirmed that Alex will be a central character in the sequel, which is of great interest to fans.
The post-credits scene of the first film shows Alex inviting Steve (played by Jack Black) to the house where he used to live. This scene signaled to fans that Alex would play an important role in the upcoming film.
