Ukraine presents interceptor drone to fight Shahed
Ukraine's defence industry has created a new drone designed to intercept and destroy Russian Shahed kamikaze drones. The video of the demonstration was shown in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's address during the visit of Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever to Kyiv.
Here's What We Know
The developers reported that this drone is already being actively used at the frontline and has destroyed more than 20 Shahed over the past two months. It is also effective against smaller aerial targets, including reconnaissance drones.
The tactical and technical characteristics remain partially classified, but it is known that the maximum speed of the vehicle is 200 km/h and the flight altitude is up to 5 km. According to the developers, this is the most successful interceptor drone in service with the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
Ukrainian experts emphasise the importance of creating inexpensive and effective drones to counter small-sized air threats, as this saves resources and reduces the burden on air defence systems.
