France will receive 50 upgraded Mirage 2000D-RMV fighters by the end of the year
The French Air Force will receive 50 modernised Mirage 2000D-RMV fighters by the end of 2025. The aircraft will be transferred to the 133rd Air Base Nancy-Ouché, and the first aircraft was commissioned on 9 April 2025.
Here's What We Know
The Mirage 2000D-RMV upgrade is part of France's programme to prepare for a full transition to Rafale fighters. As part of the upgrade, the aircraft will receive new avionics and will be able to integrate new weapons, including laser-guided GBU-48 and GBU-50 bombs and MICA IR missiles.
In addition, the aircraft will be able to use the ASTAC tactical reconnaissance module, which allows them to operate in a complex electromagnetic environment with high directional accuracy.

The modernisation was initiated by Dassault in 2015 as part of the Rénovation Mi-Vie (RMV) programme. As a result of the upgrade, the service life of the Mirage 2000D will be extended and the capabilities of the aircraft will be enhanced. This step was forced after several incidents, including the Mirage 2000D crash in 2019 and other incidents.
