Sometimes it takes more than just talent to create a masterpiece. This is what happened with God of War (2018), which was delayed for six months after PlayStation CEO Shuhei Yoshida was "horrified" by the state of the game during testing.

Here's What We Know

Six months before the game's scheduled release in 2017, Yoshida visited the Santa Monica studio to see the project. After the test, he said:

"The game was about 80% complete. But it was very difficult for me to complete the one level that Cory wanted me to complete. The enemy was shooting at me from behind the camera. I felt very cheated. There were problems with the frame rate, and a lot of things didn't work."

I was horrified

Yoshida expressed concern about the state of the game and the time left before release. In the end, the release was pushed back from October 2017 to April 2018, giving the team more time to make improvements.

The postponement paid off: God of War received high marks from critics and players, becoming one of the most successful games for the PlayStation 4. It even won Game of the Year.
