Russian troops have begun using a new type of interceptor drone made using 3D printing. It is a small, mobile system designed to fight enemy drones without revealing the operator's position.

Here's What We Know

According to the videos released by the occupiers, such drones are already being used on the front line.

The interceptor drone is built in an X-shaped configuration with four engines and is equipped with a thermal imaging and television homing head. It can be launched either from a full-fledged platform with two launch guides and an optoelectronic guidance module. Or from a lightweight portable launcher that can be carried by one soldier. This greatly simplifies the combat use of the drone in the field.

Drones are controlled via a wired command and telemetry channel using a remote control. This approach avoids direction finding by radio intelligence. The use of wired communication reduces the risk of interception or suppression of control by enemy electronic warfare equipment.

The development is an evolution of previous Russian experiments with interceptor drones, which appeared in 2024. The principle of operation remains similar: the operator only sets the target, after which the drone intercepts automatically without further human intervention.
