The space simulator Star Citizen by Cloud Imperium Games continues to set financial records: over 12 years of development, the project has raised more than $800 million, but the official release date remains uncertain.

Here's What We Know

Star Citizen was originally planned to be released in 2014, but the ambitions of the developers and the constant addition of new features led to numerous delays. Currently, the game is in the paid public alpha testing stage, which is regularly updated.

In addition to the main multiplayer part, a separate Squadron 42 story campaign is being developed with a star-studded cast, including Mark Hamill and Gary Oldman.

Despite the lengthy development and lack of a specific release date, the community of players continues to support the project financially, hoping for the game's successful completion and release.
