Bungie's first major release after Sony's acquisition of the studio promises to be an important moment for both parties. The Marathon game is attracting more and more attention, and it is already known that it will have cross-save and cross-platform features. And will PC and Xbox players need to link their PSN accounts? No!

Here's What We Know

Marathon will be Bungie's first major game after its transition to Sony, and this release is important not only for the developer but also for the Japanese giant. Sony is trying to recover from the failure of Concord.

The game will be officially shown on 12 April and will be available not only on PlayStation 5, but also on Xbox Series X|S and PC on the day of release, thus Sony confirmed its promise not to make Bungie games exclusive.

An important point was the quick refutation of speculation about the need for a PSN account for non-PlayStation players. Bungie stated on Discord that a PSN account is not required to play on Xbox and PC. However, users still need to have a Bungie account, which is standard for cross-platform projects with cross-save support.

Players really liked this solution, so Sony is doing the right thing here.

As a reminder, Tom Henderson hints that the release of the online shooter Marathon will take place by the end of 2025.
