OnePlus 13 has received the first beta update of Android 16
OnePlus has announced the release of Android 16 Beta 2 for its OnePlus 13 flagship smartphone. Though this is the second beta version of Android 16, it is the first for the OnePlus 13. The smartphone is also the first among models outside the Pixel lineup to get access to a preview version of Google's new operating system. However, the update does not apply to the OnePlus 13R model, although this may change in the future.
Here's What We Know
Despite the lack of information about the new features, users are advised to exercise caution when installing the beta version. The update description notes that users may encounter various issues with this firmware, such as crashes in the camera interface, screen freezes and device reboots when using Bluetooth headsets. Difficulties in adjusting font thickness and display errors when recording videos are also noted.
OnePlus warns that installing the beta may result in data loss and recommends backing up before updating. For those who want to go back to the stable version of Android 15, a rollback option is available, but it also comes with deleting all data from the device. The company recommends that only developers and power users should download the Android 16 update.
