Hackers have hacked most of the modes in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 on PC and now it's almost impossible to play
Fans of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 fans on PC are in a panic. Players are reporting that various online game modes, especially Galactic Assault, have become "completely unplayable" due to hackers.
Here's What We Know
According to numerous reports on Reddit and the official EA forums, the current issue is caused by a hacker attack that prevents PC players in 40-man matches from appearing on the map, making the matches completely unplayable. Co-op and other modes with fewer players do not appear to be affected.
Of course, complaints about hackers in Battlefront 2 are nothing new, and reports of this particular hack have been circulating for months, even years, ago.
However, as annoying as these hacking attacks have been, historically it has been fairly easy for players to leave the problematic lobby and find a new one, or wait until the hackers go offline to continue playing. Now it seems that this is no longer the case. Players claim that the situation has deteriorated in recent weeks to the point where it is almost impossible to find a lobby without hackers who have taken the game down. Some reports suggest that this may be due to an updated version of the hack - previously, it was likely that a hacker had to be online to activate it in order to join the game and corrupt the lobby from the inside. Now, fans claim that hackers have actually made it so that the hack is automatically loaded in every match or lobby, at any time of the day, which means it is completely impossible to play in any of these modes.
Back in 2022, another hacker attack spread, making entire character lobbies invulnerable, which completely rendered the game pointless. Like the current hack, this issue lasted for months and worsened over time, until players reported not being able to find a single uninfected match. EA eventually fixed the problem, but it took months of complaints from fans.
On the EA forums, many players are now complaining about the situation, which has been going on for over a week, but so far there has been no response from EA. At the moment, the only option for Battlefront 2 fans is to play the game on a console, if they have the option, as the console lobbies remain fortunately unaffected.
