The Toyota GR Yaris hot-hatch has received a number of tweaks for an even more exciting driving experience
Toyota has unveiled an updated version of the GR Yaris for the 2025 model year. This is despite the fact that the hot hatchback is already five years old and the car underwent a facelift in early 2024.
Here's What We Know
The 2025 model year GR Yaris has received a new aerodynamic dodger. The most notable element is the track-day-adjustable rear wing. It is claimed to improve stability at high speeds and under hard braking.
The cooling of the 1.6-litre three-cylinder turbo engine has also been optimised. The bonnet with central air duct is borrowed from the flagship GRMN Limited Edition, but in this version of the model it is made of aluminium rather than carbon fibre.
Behind the front wheels, engineers have added air ducts to improve the car's stability during high-speed cornering. More air ducts are placed at the corners of the rear bumper to reduce the coefficient of aerodynamic drag.
The aerodynamic package is completed by a front spoiler and a new lower fuel tank cover adapted from the GR Yaris race car for Japan's Super Taikyu series.

Technical changes:
- Optimised operation of the 8-speed automatic - gears shift even faster
- Strengthened rigidity of the structure
- The settings of the electric power steering have been changed
- New shock absorbers have been installed
In addition, a vertical handbrake lever is now available as an optional extra for all model configurations. The footrest has been enlarged in versions with automatic transmission. And the Toyota Safety Sense suite of safety systems is now a default part of the hatchback's base equipment in Japan.
Prices for the updated GR Yaris in Japan start from 3,560,000 yen (about $24,700 or 21,900 euros) for the base version with manual transmission and reach 5,330,000 yen (about $37,000 or 32,800 euros) for the top version with automatic transmission.
The updated GR Yaris is also already available for order in Europe, although prices have not yet been announced.
