Sweden to buy Polish drones for Ukraine
Sweden plans to buy drones from the Polish company WB Group to give them to the Ukrainian Defence Forces as part of a new military aid package.
Here's What We Know
Swedish Defence Minister Paul Johnson announced his intention to purchase drones after visiting the Polish manufacturer. He noted that Poland has "exceptional capabilities in the field of drones" and Sweden is seeking a more balanced relationship in defence procurement.
It is reported that the latest aid package for Ukraine includes funds for the purchase of Polish defence products. Johnson did not specify what kind of drones would be purchased, nor the volume or value of the future order.
However, it is generally known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already using FlyEye reconnaissance drones and Warmate strike drones manufactured by WB Group on the battlefield. In September 2024, the company also presented a new concept of the Warmate 50 drone for long-range strike missions.
