Trump's duties will affect all sectors of global trade, including the video game industry, and console manufacturers will be most affected.

Here's What We Know

In the material Bloomberg analyst Nathan Naidu expressed the assumption that the cost of consoles from Nintendo and Sony in the United States will increase by 30%. So, the new Nintendo Switch 2 instead of the announced $450 may cost American buyers in $590.

Most Nintendo and PlayStation consoles are made in China, on which Trump imposed a duty of 125%, but Nintendo may be a little bailed out by the fact that the company has prudently begun to expand production of its devices in Vietnam, which, unlike China, fell under a temporary duty suspension and is ready to negotiate with the United States.

Naidu emphasised that the US is one of the main markets for Sony and Nintendo, which have 29% and 27% of their revenues respectively, and if the cost of their consoles were to rise, they would become less attractive to customers, which would significantly hit the Japanese giants' revenues.
