New Netflix search allows you to find a film even if you don't know the title
Netflix has started testing a new search function based on OpenAI artificial intelligence. According to Bloomberg, the tool is currently available to selected users in Australia and New Zealand.
Here's What We Know
Unlike the classic search by title, actor, or genre, this feature allows you to search for content by mood or description using ordinary spoken language. For example, a query such as "something sad" can bring up drama series or films. Since the feature is powered by generative AI, users will be able to formulate queries in free form, without the need to use specific keywords. This can greatly simplify the search for relevant content.
Netflix already uses AI to make personalised recommendations based on viewing history. The company is actively exploring other scenarios for the application of this technology.
Currently, the feature works only on iOS devices. It has not yet been announced whether Android support will appear. It is expected that testing will soon be expanded to other countries, including the United States.
Netflix streaming service has added support for HDR10+ format, which improves image quality through dynamic metadata. The new format allows you to more accurately display details in dark and light scenes, providing richer colours and contrast and reducing graininess of video content. To watch movies and TV shows in HDR10+, you need a Netflix Premium subscription and a device that supports the format.
