Ukraine has increased production of armoured vehicles 30 times since 2022

In 2024, the Ukrainian defence industry increased the production of armoured vehicles by 30 times compared to 2022. This was announced by Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin.

What we know

At the Ukrainian Weapons 2024 briefing, the Minister said that in 2023 the production of armoured vehicles increased 10 times, and in 2024 - another 3 times. Currently, Ukraine is actively producing domestic BTR-4 armoured personnel carriers, which have been in service since 2014, as well as Kozak armoured vehicles, which are constantly being modernised.

Ukrainian Armour plans to produce 1.5 times more Novator armoured vehicles than last year, and this number may increase by the end of the year. In 2024, the company also presented a new VARTA 2 vehicle with the SICH combat module, which is equipped with a 30-mm cannon, grenade launcher, and machine gun.

In short, the Ministry of Defence has approved the Dzhura-EVAK evacuation armoured vehicle for use, and in the summer of 2025, the Defence Forces will receive the first Inguar-3 armoured vehicles adapted from the results of combat trials.
