Apple is preparing a new model of the Vision Pro headset with two important advantages. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the company is developing a version that will be lighter and more affordable than the current model.

Here's What We Know

Currently, Apple Vision Pro costs $3499 in the US and weighs 1.5 pounds (about 680 grams).

Apple is also working on another version of Vision Pro that will be able to connect to a Mac via a wire. This configuration will provide extremely low latency, which is especially important for professional tasks.

Gurman notes that Apple is striving to create a low-latency system that will allow users to stream images from a Mac or work with resource-intensive enterprise applications. According to him, some users are already using Vision Pro in demanding professional applications, such as viewing medical images during surgeries or in flight simulators, where it is extremely important to keep latency to a minimum. This task cannot yet be accomplished with a fully wireless connection.

It is not yet known when Apple will release these new versions. As a reminder, the first Vision Pro headset went on sale in February 2024.

Separately, the insider added that Apple CEO Tim Cook is still focused on creating real AR glasses. According to Bloomberg, these glasses will be closely integrated with the Siri voice assistant and Apple's proprietary AI technologies, including Visual Intelligence. At the same time, the company carefully weighs the privacy issue - Apple does not want to repeat the Meta approach, which involves active photo and video recording of the environment.
