Marvel's Spider-Man 2 no longer has the "Verified" status on Steam Deck. Although Valve had previously provided official confirmation of compatibility, player feedback and technical issues forced the company to reconsider its decision. Now the game is marked as "Playable" and additional graphics settings are required for comfortable gameplay.

Here's What We Know

In February, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 became "Verified" for Steam Deck after the first major patch that fixed a number of bugs and added auto-save. However, players quickly noticed that even after the update, the game did not reach the proper level of stability. It was possible to reach 30 frames per second, but only after numerous manual adjustments, and performance remained unstable.

By the end of March, Valve changed the game's status to Playable. This means that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can be run on Steam Deck, but it requires adjusting the graphical settings.

The developer of the port, Nixxes Studio, is actively working on fixes to improve the game's performance and stability. The latest update, Patch 8, was released on 10 April. It includes improvements such as performance optimisation in areas with a large number of trees. While these changes may seem minor, they are aimed at addressing specific issues that affect game performance.

The loss of Verified status is a rare occurrence. And while Nixxes continues to work on further optimisations, players on Steam Deck will have to manually adjust the game to ensure stable gameplay. Although it's still better to wait for the fixes.
