Subaru has announced a new EV called the Trailseeker
Japanese automaker Subaru has revealed the name and location of the public premiere of its new electric SUV. It will be called Trailseeker and will debut at the "2025 New York International Auto Show" (to be held 18-27 April).
Here's What We Know
The announcement of the new electric-powered Subaru is accompanied by just one teaser photo, where we see a piece of the boot door with the model name and taillight.
It will be the brand's second production electric car after the Solterra model, which is the twin of the Toyota bZ4X.
The Trailseeker will also be the result of a collaboration between Toyota and Subaru. As early as last year, Subaru said that its next three electric car models will be co-developed with Toyota. After that, the company plans to release four fully in-house models by 2028. It's possible that the Trailseeker will turn out to be a derivative of the new Toyota C-HR+, though it could be an entirely different model.
Subaru needs a new electric-powered model. At least in the US. While the Japanese company has been biding its time, California startup Rivian has managed to establish itself as an electric car brand for outdoor enthusiasts - Subaru's traditional audience. What's more, Rivian will launch its mass-market R2 crossover late next year with a starting price of around $45,000.
