While the jokes aren't funny: Google is working on an AI meme generator for Gboard, but journalists are horrified by its sense of humour
Google is preparing to introduce an inbuilt AI meme generator to Gboard users.
Here's What We Know
The editors of Android Authority got a chance to take a look at Google's Meme Studio and were horrified by the AI's sense of humour. The service picks up strange pictures, adds inappropriate and cringe-worthy captions and severely censors even the most innocuous requests.
Journalists Android Authority, explained that the generation of memes works in two modes:
- The user selects an image from the service's library or uploads their own and adds text;
- The meme is generated entirely by the AI based on the text request.
The Meme Studio editor allows you to move, scale and rotate the text, but does not allow you to choose the font and colour. The generated meme can be saved in Gboard or sent immediately to another user.
It's not yet known when Google will release Meme Studio to the public, but one would hope that by then AI jokes will be smarter, or at least funnier.
