Marathon has been in development for at least 4 years, and now the shooter's team consists of 300 developers

Currently, the gaming industry is actively discussing Bungie's upcoming shooter Marathon. The extraction shooter will be fully released on 23 September 2025 and it will be the first new game in a long time by the studio that gave us Halo and Destiny. And now it has become known how much time was spent on development.
Here's What We Know
The game's game director Joe Ziegler said that Marathon has been in development for more than 4 years, and about 300 developers are currently working on it.
And given that some streamers told how they tested the game back in 2017-2018, we can assume that the mentioned 4 years is the period when full development began, so the period of creating the game with all phases can easily reach 7 years.
Moreover, the game's staff is quite serious, so we want to believe that despite the scepticism that can be found on social media, Bungie will manage to surprise us.
We would like to remind you that the developer of the failed shooter Concord urges to give Marathon a chance and not to blame the game for failure before its release.
Marathon is scheduled for release on 23 September 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
