Finnish startup Verge has set a new world record for mileage on a single charge for an electric motorbike.

Here's What We Know

The Verge TS Pro, manufactured in Estonia, travelled 193 miles (310.6 km) around London without any additional charging en route. At the finish line, the dashboard signalled the possibility of travelling a few more miles.

The bike was taken in turns by Sam Clarke and Sara Sloman, who completed the journey in 16 hours. The average speed of the journey was around 12mph (19km/h), which is typical of urban traffic in a metropolis. In such conditions, the TS Pro is indeed capable of travelling significant distances without recharging, but for suburban journeys this result is less impressive.

According to the official Verge data, the motorbike's range is:

  • 124 miles (200 km) at a steady 56 mph (90 km/h);
  • 119 miles (191 km) on a combined cycle (city + motorway);
  • up to 217 miles (350 kilometres) in quiet city driving with a 75kg driver.

The record was made possible thanks to an electric motor built into the rear wheel, which frees up space in the frame for the batteries.

The batteries have a capacity of 20.2 kWh. It supports DC fast charging up to 25 kW - from 0 to 80 per cent battery charge in 35 minutes. The Verge accepts up to 3.5 kW from the mains, which is sufficient for overnight charging.

Verge TS Pro specifications:

  • power: 136 hp (102 kW)
  • Torque: 737 lb-ft (1,000 N-m).
  • 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration: 3.5 seconds
  • Weight: 540 lb (245 kg)

Also in the Verge line-up is a more powerful version, the TS Ultra, with 201 hp (150 kW), 885 lb-ft (1,200 N-m) and a 21.8 kWh battery. In this modification, the range in the city reaches 233 miles (375 kilometres).

Verge has already opened three showrooms in Europe and two in the US, but the start of deliveries in America is delayed until the end of 2025 due to lengthy certification. US versions will get a NACS charging port. Prices start at $29,900 for the TS Pro and $44,900 for the TS Ultra.
