The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has given official permission for the Armed Forces to operate a new domestically produced unmanned aerial vehicle, the B-1.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by the Ministry's press service with reference to the Main Directorate for the Life Cycle of Arms and Military Equipment.

The B-1 is an ultra-light attack drone "bomber" designed to destroy enemy manpower, equipment and strategic targets both on the front line and in the rear. The drone can carry various types of ammunition and is equipped with a powerful, low-noise engine that provides it with autonomous flight for several hours.

The Ministry of Defence notes the B-1's high resistance to enemy electronic warfare. The complex is also characterised by rapid deployment and folding, which reduces the risks to the crew in the combat zone. However, there are no details on this yet.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said that in 2025, Ukraine will have certified more than 20 models of fibre-optic drones, and 11 manufacturers will launch their mass production. In general, the state actively supports the development of reconnaissance, strike and long-range drones, as well as autonomous ground vehicles.

For example, the largest tests of ground combat robots in the history of Ukraine have recently taken place.
