Rumour: pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will open on 23 April

Canadian Nintendo fans who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to pre-order their Switch 2 can get ready for an important event next week. Despite a previous delay caused by Nintendo's decision to align the launch of pre-orders with the US market amid uncertainty over US trade tariffs, a new tentative date has been announced.
Here's What We Know
As a reminder, Nintendo unexpectedly slowed down the launch of Canadian pre-orders last Tuesday, just one day before the scheduled launch. The company explained this by wanting to "align the timing of pre-orders with the date to be determined in the US". The decision follows a delay in US pre-orders due to Nintendo's intention to "assess the potential impact" of US President Donald Trump's trade tariffs.
Nevertheless, well-known insider Billbill-kun, who has a reliable reputation for leaks, said that Canadian pre-orders for the Switch 2 will begin next week. "From what I see through some Canadian retailers," he wrote on social media, "pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 console and bundles are set to begin on 23 April 2025. The date is subject to change. I can't confirm if this includes the US."
Nintendo of America CEO Doug Bowser has previously acknowledged that the US administration's trade tariffs, which have significantly affected the company's key production sites around the world, are a "challenge" and "something we will have to address".
