Publisher THQ Nordic and studio Alkimia Interactive have published the second video from the Making Of series dedicated to the development of Gothic 1 Remake.

Here's What We Know

The authors said that they are striving not only to update the cult game in a worthy way, but also to add new stories and eliminate gaps in the plot left from 2001. To do this, the team has scrutinised the cut content in Gothic and recreated it to give life to empty locations.

Many of the game's systems will become more realistic and complex in Gothic 1 Remake and as an example, the developers recalled the pilgrimage of a knight named Gor Na Drak. In the original Gothic he followed his route only while the player was following him and watching, but in the remake he can be found at any point along the route he will follow without the player's participation.

The authors will also significantly expand the role of orcs in the narrative. It so happened that in Gothic they are quantitatively a lot, but the influence of orcs on the plot and narrative was limited. In the remake, the culture of green-skinned monsters will be revealed in more detail, and their relationship with Nameless will be given more attention.

The developers will significantly improve the economy system, so that the player can no longer get rich quickly and buy the best equipment in the game. Merchants will begin to actively interact with each other, thanks to which the assortment in their shops will be constantly updated.

In the next issue of Making Of the authors promise to talk about crafting, world exploration and music in Gothic Remake.

When We Can Expect It

It is still unknown when Gothic Remake will be released. It is expected to be in 2025.

The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
