After the first gameplay footage of the upcoming shooter Marathon was shown, players had concerns about the visual style of the game. Some users noted the excessive "matte" of the image, which also looks pale. However, the art director of the franchise was quick to reassure the community, emphasising the early stage of the project's development.

Here's What We Know

In his commentary, the developer noted that the team is actively working on many aspects of the game, striving to make it as exciting as possible. He also added that it is incorrect to compare the current state of the game with "tantalising Blender renders".

This statement gives us hope that the visuals of Marathon will undergo significant changes and improvements before the release. Given Bungie's reputation for creating high-quality and visually appealing games, there is reason to hope that the final look of Marathon will meet the expectations of players.

But the reaction of people is understandable, when brightly coloured promotional materials already give you a certain idea of the game's style, and you see a slightly different story in the gameplay. However, there is still six months to go before the release, so certain things may change during this time. In the meantime, we can only watch.

Marathon is scheduled for release on 23 September 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
