Ukrainian military shoots down Russian Forpost UAV with an interceptor drone at an altitude of 4 km
Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a Russian Forpost strike and reconnaissance drone using an interceptor drone at high altitude. The video of the successful operation was posted on the page of the commander of the 414th separate brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Birds of Magyars".
Here's What We Know
The destroyed "Outpost" is a licensed copy of the Israeli IAI Searcher Mk II, adapted to Russian conditions. The UAV can perform both reconnaissance and strike missions using KAB-20 guided bombs guided by a laser through the main optoelectronic module.
The Ukrainian side used an FPV drone capable of operating at an altitude of up to 4 km, which is already the limit for such vehicles. Although the model of the interceptor drone has not been disclosed, it managed to hit the Forpost in the rudder, after which the Russian UAV apparently lost control and headed for Kursk region.
The use of interceptor drones, also known as "anti-aircraft drones", has become commonplace for Ukrainian units. These are both FPV drones with a manual guidance system and specialised models with aircraft steering and increased speed. One of these, according to the occupiers, was captured by a Russian reconnaissance man after an unsuccessful interception.
