Samsung has announced a new AI Pre-Care Notification feature that uses artificial intelligence to predict possible breakdowns of home appliances.

Here's What We Know

The technology analyses the usage history and current condition of devices to identify potential malfunctions. Users are notified via the SmartThings app, which indicates the cause of a possible malfunction and suggests ordering an on-site repair. For example, the system can detect low refrigerant levels in an air conditioner or an abnormal temperature in a refrigerator.

The feature is currently available for ten types of appliances, including air conditioners, washing machines, dishwashers, robot hoovers and others. The service is free only to members of the AI Subscription Club programme, which allows them to rent appliances on a monthly subscription basis. Users also receive monthly reports on the condition of the devices, their energy consumption and care recommendations.

That said, users can opt out of having their appliances' performance data collected if they don't want to share that information. The new technology aims to save time, money and prevent serious breakdowns.
