The future is near: a new holographic display from Looking Glass shows 3D images from any vantage point and without VR/AR glasses
Looking Glass has unveiled its new panel that can display 3D models without the need for virtual or augmented reality glasses.
Here's What We Know
Looking Glass 27 5K is a 27″ holographic 3D display with 5K resolution. The device projects 45 to 100 perspectives at a time, providing a viewing angle of 53° and a virtual depth of up to 16 inches (40.64 cm), allowing you to see the 3D image from almost any angle.
This display is not yet designed for everyday use, but has been developed for conferences, stands, demonstrations and other similar events.
Looking Glass 27 5K works best when connected to an iPad, but it is also compatible with PCs. The panel is only 2cm thick.
Models to be shown on the 3D display can be created with tools such as Unity, Blender, Unreal Engine and WebXR.
The panel costs $10k, but the price is reduced to $8k if pre-ordered before 30 April. Deliveries will start in June 2025.
