Meta is ramping up its use of AI in many different aspects of its business and has announced a new move to protect teens from unwanted content on Instagram.

Here's What We Know

Meta is integrating a special AI that will analyse users' feeds and block things that could harm teenagers. The algorithm is arranged in such a way that it can recognise a user's age, even if the user has indicated that he or she is an adult. The system examines queries, communication style and even takes into account text greetings, such as happy birthday, and based on this information determines what content should be blocked.

Young people in the US will be the first to encounter Meta's innovations, and the system will gradually be extended to Facebook and Messenger. Later it will be implemented in other regions.

Of course, the AI can make mistakes and block adult user content, but this can be corrected with manual adjustments.
