The iPhone 17e, the next model in the budget "e" series, is likely to be released in May next year. According to new leaks, it is already at the production planning stage.

Here's What We Know

The information was published by the insider Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo. It is said that the iPhone 17e is currently in the trial production stage, when Foxconn factories produce a limited number of devices before launching mass production.

This may indicate that Apple plans to make the "e" model updates annual, compared to the irregular updates of the SE series. As for possible improvements to the iPhone 17e, information is currently limited. However, it is likely that the phone will receive an improved version of the current processor, as was the case with the iPhone 16e, which used a downgraded version of the SoC from the current generation iPhone.

The iPhone 16e, released in February this year, received several new features, such as Apple's C1 chip for improved power efficiency and a larger battery than the standard iPhone 16. However, it retains a 60Hz refresh rate, a less bright display, and a single rear lens. The starting price of the iPhone 16e is $599, and it is available only in black and white.

As for the iPhone 17e, it is not yet known what updates to expect.

With the release of the iPhone 16e, Apple no longer produces the old iPhone SE models that had LCD displays. This means that now all new iPhones that Apple sells are equipped with OLED displays.
