Despite the fact that the official remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been released, an ambitious fan project called Skyblivion is in development that aims to fully recreate Oblivion on the Skyrim engine. Not only did Bethesda not stand in the way of enthusiasts, but also showed unexpected support by providing Skyblivion developers with free codes for their newly-made remaster.

Here's What We Know

Skyblivion is an upcoming project by the TESRenewal modding team, which aims to fully port the 2006 RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to the game engine The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This amazing project has been in development for several years, and in February this year, TESRenewal hinted at a possible release in 2025. Shortly after that, rumours about an official remaster of Oblivion began to appear online.

When it became obvious that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a reality and its release is not far off, Skyblivion project manager Rebelzize commented on the situation as follows: "It's a win-win for the community, because we're getting twice as much Oblivion this year." And so, Bethesda and Virtuos have officially announced and released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Instead of demanding that Skyblivion's development be stopped, Bethesda recognised the work of the TESRenewal team and provided its members with free codes for their remaster.

Skyblivion is expected to be released on PC in 2025. The Elder Scrolls IV: Remastered is already available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
