Trump's 2025 inauguration committee received a $315,000 donation from Samsung
Samsung Electronics, through its US subsidiary, has made a $315,000 donation to President Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration committee. This has become part of the traditional practice of large companies seeking to build relationships with the new administration. Samsung's donation is well behind the $1 million contributed by giants such as NVIDIA, Google, Amazon and Meta, as well as Hyundai Motor and Hanwha Group.
Here's What We Know
Trump's inauguration committee raised a record $239 million, the highest total in U.S. history. The funds raised by the committee can be used to organise events as well as memorial projects such as libraries and museums. Samsung had previously made a $100,000 donation to Trump's first inauguration in 2017.
Samsung's donation stems from the importance of the U.S. market to the company, especially amid the uncertainty caused by U.S. tariff policies. The company is also taking steps to strengthen ties with the administration, including changes to its North American public relations guidelines.
