Meta has announced the global expansion of advertising on the social network Threads. Starting from 23 April, users in more than 30 countries will be able to see adverts in their feeds between regular posts. This was announced by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri.

Here's What We Know

Threads, created as an alternative to X (formerly Twitter), is gradually integrating commercial tools to support the development of the platform. Advertising was previously tested only on a small group of users in the US, but now the company is ready to go global.

According to Mosseri, the goal of introducing advertising is to "improve the overall user experience." The ad units will appear in the feed between posts, first in certain regions and later in most countries where the Threads platform is available.

Meta emphasises that all advertisers worldwide now have access to run campaigns on Threads. Previously, this feature was limited to selected partners who participated in testing.

In a blog post, the company noted that people come to Meta apps for a personalised experience that helps them discover new businesses and content that matches their interests. Advertising has been described as an integral part of this process, and the expansion of it to Threads aims to help users make deeper connections with their favourite brands.

The launch of advertising is another step by Meta in developing monetisation for the new social network, which has already gained millions of users since its launch in 2023.
